“This is Halloween, this is Halloween. Halloween, halloween…(echoed).”
Halloween is just around the corner and one of my favorite times of the year. Always the perfect time to watch scary/horror/thriller/halloween movies, and also to dress up as your fav characters!
What about yours?
Our family usually plans way ahead of time for times like these! We are a family of 5, so planning ahead of time is crucial. Especially for costumes that could take days or even weeks.
My husband (Tony) and I are huge fans of creating EASY DIY (do-it-yourself) costumes/outfits! Even if that means just piecing different outfits together!
I’d be lying if I told you that candy is not a huge part of making our Halloween special and fun. My kids go trick-or-treating, but you better believe this Mama is getting some of that candy!
Halloween isn’t the only time I watch scary movies, but when October rolls around, the mood sets me to watch them!
Get Ready for the Movie!
Since the world-wide pandemic, many people and families had been forced to watch movies at home. Movies that would normally be introduced in the theaters, were instead displayed on your television screens. With being at home, your comfortability will never be an issue.
Before you read the list of movies, here are some must-haves to be ready to watch!
- Favorite Drink (soda, tea, water, wine, etc.)
- Pillows (no matter what part of the house you’re in!)
- Blanket (for comfortability)
- Turn off or Mute cellphones, iPads, electronics
1. Saw: Movie Series
Yes, the Saw Movie Series! These movies have always preserved my interest. The Concept in every one of this series stay similar, but what changes are the Games.
I’ve watched this series since the first and they haven’t failed in my opinion; they give you a pretty great plot in every one.
The main antagonist is “The Jigsaw Killer”.
2. The Conjuring: Movie Series
Are you into Supernatural Horror? This movie series takes supernatural to a whole new level! The series mainly revolves around these two paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Supernatural occurrences continue to disrupt their life, and you’ll see that with every one you watch.Watch Movies and Shows with Friends and Family
3. Ma (2019)
Octavia Spencer, it seems, can act as just about anything! Her character was played with all effort given. You will not be disappointed in this thriller! She introduces herself as this friendly person, but on the inside, she’s wicked.
Description: A lonely middle-aged woman befriends some teenagers and decides to let them party in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules: One of the kids has to stay sober, don’t curse, and never go upstairs. They must also refer to her as Ma. But as Ma’s hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare, and Ma’s place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on Earth.
4. Child’s Play (2019)
My all-time FAVORITE “CHUCKY” MOVIE.
The other ones are okay, but this one hit the nail right on the head. I can’t express how well they did! It kept me on my toes and continuously interested in what was to happen next. The idea was very different from the other Movies in this series.
Description: A mother gives her 13-year-old son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
5. Insidious: Movie Series
Both the Insidious and The Conjuring movie series fall into the same universe as well as timeline, which I believe is what makes me like both of them so much. Another Supernatural horror movie that needs to be seen!
6. IT: Both Chapters
Clowns! Ahh! I’ve always been terrified of clowns, even since the very first IT. Yes, the original in 1990! I do have to say, with all the upgraded graphics, better makeup, better ideas, these chapters are amazing! If you enjoyed the old movie, you’d definitely like this one!
Description: It tells the story of seven children in Derry, Maine who are terrorized by the eponymous being, only to face their own personal demons in the process.
7. Split (2016)
If you’re into Psychological Movies, this one is for you! It was definitely different than any I’ve ever seen. It dives deep into discussing Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Description: The film follows a man with 24 different personalities who kidnaps and imprisons three teenage girls in an isolated underground facility.
8. Get Out (2017)
Smart, interesting, scary, thriller, and many more to describe this movie! The beginning starts a little slow, but it doesn’t take long for this movie to turn your head and be like, “Whaaaaaaat?!”. It’s a little old, but if you haven’t seen it, do it!
Description: A young black man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his white girlfriend.
9. The Purge: Movie Series
I’ve loved this movie series since the very first! NO LAWS, nothing is illegal in a 12-hour period! Very interesting concept in every one.
10. Brahms: The Boy 2 (2020)
Creepy is the best word I can give to you for this one.
Less of a horror movie in my opinion, more along the lines of a doll thriller!
Description: Brahms: The Boy II follows a young boy who, after moving into a mansion with his parents following a traumatizing incident, finds a lifelike doll he becomes attached to.
